Trip to Singapore and Malaysia - Day 1

12/18/07 - HK to Singapore

We arrived at HK airport @ 10am to catch a flight @ 11:40am to Singapore, checked in @ Terminal 2, but we had to go back to Terminal 1 to take the flight. So strange.

We took Jerstar to Singapore this time. Flight is fine, the crew is fine, the seat is fine as well, just the spaces in between each row is narrow and not comfortable enough.

But the very good good thing is that Johnny sat by my side. Haha!
Johnny is a Hong Kong guy, but works in Singapore. We knew him in the flight.
He is very nice and gentle. When we saw him in the 1st sight, we do not believe we are so lucky to have such a handsome guy to be our neighbour.
The flight just took 3 hours, but we cannot sleep well, so we asked Johnny to borrow us magazines and we did chat a little for a while.


After arrived, we took MRT (i.e. metro) to Bugis, where we live tonight.
When we climb up to he floor, we find there are a lot of people shop around, partly due to the big sale of shops and students are on school holidays.

We go to check in @ the hostel we booked and we spent a lot of energy to take our luggage up to the 3rd floor with just staircase, but not lift. We go crazy.

Hostel is hostel, small room, shared washroom, no services, but at least it is clean there.


After that we went to 7-11 to buy telephone card and we find it's really difficult to communicate with local people as their English is limited and speak with some accent. Anyway, we bought one successfully since one of the shop assistant do speaks Mandarin.

The next check point is travel agency. We are supposed to go to somewhere nearby to buy bus tickets to Mersing, Malaysia. But we have no idea where this place is, so we take taxi and finally we paid for S$10 (around HK$54) @ bus terminal, where is just 5-10 mins walk from our hostel. OH!!!!!!!!! Coz we took taxi @ peak hour, passed by ERP and mainy due to the driver did not make clear our destination before go and took a round circle route to there.

At night, we went to have dinner with Claire @ Chinatown. She is my pen pal since secondary school and it is my first time to meet her. She is nice and pretty and we had a good dinner and nice chat that night. Thanks Claire.
